The 4ft Jubilee Bench is supplied flat-pack and my sample is well made using excellent wood with very few knots and those few are small. It is reasonably comfortable to sit on, but I would recommend adding seat and back cushions for a longer sojourn. It feels very strong, much more so than those we chose not to buy in a couple of garden centres. It already has an oily feel, but I have allowed my bench to soak up two more liberal coats of teak oil before exposing it to the weather.It is supplied with an instruction sheet, all the required screws and an allen key to fasten them. Do not be tempted to over-fasten them as the allen key offers a lot of leverage and can easily wreck its socket in the screw head or its own tip.The self assembly of the five pieces is simple and straightforward, with all the pre-drilled holes lining up and allowing all the screws to reach the full depth without splitting the wood. This took me about quarter of an hour, as follows:.1. fit the back to the pair of sides standing normally one after the other, with the two pairs of long yellow-zinc screws not fully tightened, allowing enough slop to fit the tongues of the front rail,.2. fit the front rail, and moderately tighten all the six long screws, enough that the frame still has some flex but does not slop about,.3. drop the seat into place, front edge first, tag it with a couple of short yellow-zinc screws from underneath,.4. tip the bench up on one side and add the rest of the short screws to the underneath and moderately tighten them,.5. put it back on its feet and fully tighten all the long screws,.6. tip it up again and fully tighten all the short screws.My only criticism is the use of ordinary steel screws in the hidden spots underneath, but these are unlikely to be exposed to the weather, and I took care to make sure the teak oil reached them to help minimise the risk of them rusting.It is worth looking around for deals.Addendum. 8th July 2017.As the weather will inevitably be turning for the worse I’ve invested in some protection for it, and this

Built this in about 30 minutes, having said that I come from an engineering background, if this sort of thing is a challenge to you I would give this guidance , remove all of the material onto the floor, check the screw list is correct then check the instructions, insert screws three quarters of the way ,when frame fully assembled tighten screws, if using a drill driver set the screw control to its lowest to begin and then adjust accordingly to reach the desired strength to push screw in the driver will automatically torque when the screw is tight, one other rrcommentatatotGreat bench, if using a drill driver for the screws set to lowest setting first and build up the power ,the driver will torque when the screw is fully tight , let the tool do its job or you may split the wood.r

The bench is well designed and easy to assemble. The wood is of good quality and overall the bench represents remarkable value: I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another of these if we needed more garden seating. There was a small defect in that a very small corner of the front stretcher, near the hole for a fixing screw, was broken off, presumably during packing, but this doesn’t detract significantly from the quality.

On the due day of delivery, the shop telephoned to say that they had no stock left. (That bench was priced around £70.)Went online for Mum to look for a suitable replacement, and this popped up. A bit more expensive, but it looked as though it was just what she had been looking for. Ordered, and delivery (standard, free) saw it arriving in less than 48 hours.A minor issue encountered during assembly was notified to Garden 2 Home, with a very fast follow-up by telephone and email. Easy to build and solid. Good price with cost of garden furniture shooting up. It’s quite ‘flat’ to sit on ie no contours – flat seat flat back. You feel secure but if something you are going to use a lot then it’s a medium for comfort and might benefit from a seat pad.

Great little bench – once you’ve assembled it. Really important you don’t tighten the screws. Keep it loose until the seat is fitted. The seat simply won’t fit with the bolts tightened. What makes it worse is, as other reviewers have noticed, the step 2 instructions have you putting the seat in the wrong way around. The two prongs are at the back, the four are at the front. Really solid feel once made though. Looks great.

This is a very sturdy well constructed piece of garden furniture.It is rather difficult to fix the seat to the rest of the framework as some “play” is required to ensure the assembled seat will fit properly. However, once assembled the bench is a nice addition to the garden. A coat of Danish Oil turns the wood into a nice deep honey colour. One very minor criticism, the Allan Key supplied burrs rather easily, I used a steel key which was more positive in use.

Very nice quality compared to the £99- 130 priced ones. I did find one of the seat end slats was missing the 2 small wood screws and the glue had parted. Easily rectified before applying a coating of teak oil ( does what it says on the tin). (Update) 2nd bench arrived, no problems and assembled in 10 minutes with supplied tools. Awaiting a coat of teak oil before use. Very happy customer.

As far as the product is concerned, I would recomment it (and its derivatives) to anyone with one small reservation. The two seater benches we bought (three in total) arrived as promised, assembled easily, are sturdy, and now look good in our garden. Why 4 stars and not 5? I needed to stain them grey, and the process of stripping the 3 benches back to be sure the ‘paint’ would adhere took quite a long no time. Sitting on them reminds me too much of the labour involved. That’s my problem really, but I wish a plain, untreated version had been available.

Easy to put together. It’s quicker if you use a quarter drive ratchet with Allen key insert, this saves a lot of time. Remember to not tighten all screws until the seat is positioned.It took me 10 minutes to assemble so I can’t see how it can take as long as some reviewers state!?Quick delivery and well packaged. I would recommend it.

This arrived promptly and appeared to be what I expected BUT the instructions are wrong and it was very difficult to construct. It is impossible to drop the seat into the frame because the cross pieces stick out front and back. We had to take the frame apart and slot in the seat then reconstruct the frame – hard work with a small Allen key. Also, the seat and frame are badly engineered and the screw holes do not match up so you cannot attach the seat cross pieces to the frame at all 8 points. It took a lot more than 30 minutes but it does look quite nice now and seems fairly sturdy.

Firstly, delivery was very quick and the product was well packed. Initially I was a bit disappointed about the thickness of the timbers but now it’s put together it is very sturdy so I’m quite happy. It was very easy for one person to put it together and it actually took me less than 15 minutes to complete. No additional tools were needed and the instructions were clear enough. You’d have to be a real numpty to make a mistake!

I love the quality of the bench. It was easy to put together right until I put the last piece in; the seat. I needed to loosen the side bits off and use a rubber mallet. Be a good idea to suggest that on the instructions. But that is minor compared to how well made it is.

Very pleased with the chunky design and look of this spacious 2 seater bench. Delivered earlier than expected & well packaged in a double carton. Despite this a small part of the frame was damaged in transit but the replacement part was supplied immediately after a first class response & service from Amazon’s supplier.Assembly was straightforward with an the extra pair of hands. It would be tricky for a one person. It’s important to leave all screws slightly loose until the bench is completely formed. Tighten all the screws as the last step.

Although the bench came well packed and there was no sign of any damage externally, there was some damage to one of the pieces, nothing major and a bit of wood glue sorted it out, perhaps this area is a little vulnerable and needs better internal protection.Otherwise very pleased with it, had no problems putting it together.

Excellent bench. Do not overtighten the screws as you can split the wood I did and fixed it with glue. If you tighten screws fully you may have a struggle getting the seat in. Go back and tighten once you have finished. Small screwdriver used to line up some of the stew holes if needed. I had to nail a piece of wood on the bottom right corner leg due to the paving stone’s being uneven 1 inch nails no problem.

A very well made and easy to assemble garden bench. However the description says it is made out of Acacia wood and is of a natural colour this is not the case as the bench is of a light coloured wood and comes stained.

The bench arrived in good time and was easy to assemble, in fact we were so pleased at first that we ordered another. However we had only had the bench a few weeks when, possibly due to a lack of support in the middle/poor quality wood or a weakness, two adults sat on the bench and there was a loud crack! We may see if we can repair it but it was very disappointing – and the adults were very lucky not to hurt themselves. The bench is fine for one adult but take care.

Couldn’t give it 5 Stars as it did have a couple of nicks in the wood, but wouldn’t have sent it back just for that. Don’t follow instructions, best leave all screws loose and leave one of the arms off until you fit the seat, otherwise it won’t fit.Very please with it though.
