great value

Useful storage but due to low quality thickness of plastic difficult to locate stacking. Also bends if storing anything heavy so defeats having this amount of storage space as can’t use for tools drills etc without ot distorting

Good size , good price but not the strongest

Handy for brickwork tools able to separate larger trowels from smaller ones. Had it for a few months and the bottom section has split down the side

It’s a useful toolbox and overall I like it.But it’s not easy to get the various bits you need so you’re constantly disassembling and reassembling it. Wheels around great when it’s all together. It’s not really sturdy and whilst I didn’t notice for a while after purchasing it (but not using it) it has a small crack on the bottom piece near the left clip – this feels like the most vulnerable area too so not a huge surprise.Overall it’s pretty decent value for money.

As always, I spent a good amount of time researching a tool box, I’ll sometimes spend hours pouring over reviews, filtering search results and balancing-up pro’s and con’s. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and this one struck me as the best in this price range. You do get what you pay for, this isn’t a tool box that can be slammed about day to day on building sites, it’s a tool box for the occasional home DIY’er. For me that’s all I wanted, my intention is to keep it in the back of my camper converted Sprinter van for times needed whilst on the road a long way from home. I already had a small toolbox and a tool bag, so I bought this to consolidate my tool collection into one neat storage solution. In the bottom section is a large open space. In here I’ve got my spanner collection along with heavier tools such as a mallet, hammer and small wrecking bar. I also managed to fit a mouse sander and jigsaw, along with their associated accessories. The plastic walls of the toolbox will contort if you put too much weight in there. This makes it difficult to sit the top toolbox on, it needs to be perfectly square to marry correctly. The top toolbox is a good size, this alone was bigger than my previous toolbox. There’s a main storage area, tray that sits on top under the lid and then storage trays on the lid itself. The top toolbox feels more sturdy than the bottom section, probably due to its more compact dimensions.I have two considerable negatives to share.1. With both top and bottom boxes connected together, this isn’t very sturdy at all. It’s not safe to be rooting through the top toolbox when it’s attached to the bottom half.I have a good weight in the bottom section, more so than the top, but it feels like it wants to topple all the time. I believe this is due to the wheels, they make it sit awkwardly.2. I’ve barely used it and I can see that the wheels skew awkwardly when you’re pulling it along. I can’t see the wheels lasting very long at all, seems they have a poor quality axle or more likely, low grade plastics where the wheels connect.I partly wish I’d spent a little more and got the next price bracket model, ‘Fatmax’(?). It was £75 in B&Q, most likely would have been worth the extra investment.

It’s very flimsy. You have to spend a long time every time to make sure the top box/lid is sat right before putting on the latch, and even then mine still shattered after only 3 weeks
kieran james –
As the title says, it does the job but the front is thin plastic and has warped slightly making it not a perfect fit when putting the top on the bottom.

So I had this tool box for 6 months This tool box was bought specifically for two small 12v drills impact and combi couple plumbing tools and electric was kept to be a one stop shop for maintenance, it done quite well as I was able to get my slightly larger items small saw silicone gun and hammer in after much organising….To be honest i was very happy with the compactness of the box even though it was a 10minute to pack everything way so it fit.Today as I was walking up a set of steps the tool boxes main handles snapped, there was maximum of 20kg in the box if not less but with the handle in my hand and the tools in a pile of mess at the bottom of the stairs I have decided that there is a lot more things wrong with this box which I will attempt to list below.Within the first few day as your trying to get the top section to lock to the bottom bits of plastics cracked off.Slowly the plastic teeth on the bottom tool started to Frey. The handle is not long enough for the average man.If you put screws in the top see through pockets in the top left and right the screws will without fail fall out.The screw organiser tray was the feature of the tool box however unless you keep tool box upright the whole time screw will fall out and get caught in the rotating function. My advice is that this is NOT a processionals tool box and should be used for only light weight diy home tool box.The plastic on the whole box has poor integrity. It’s a shame as I had high hopes for the product.

I’ve rated this from a home DIY perspective. It’s frankly flimsy in some aspects, which is fair enough given the sub-£30 price tag. The clasps etc seem ok for the price, but the bin material is about the same thickness as a tupperware dish, but obviously much larger so flexes like crazy. This is why I think its not suitable for trades or job sites in my view, just general storage in a domestic situation.Unfortunately, even in a domestic environment, I’ve still not had a chance to properly use it. Currently awaiting a replacement – first one received had a split down the side of the bottom tool storage section. Now I only noticed it when i took it out of the packaging and removed the top storage unit to transfer some power tools into it. So cannot say if it came this way or caved under the weight of a single power tool (circular saw). And that hardly seems likely…does it? But it certainly isn’t built to stand up to any rough handling or squeezing stuff in. To be honest I think you would need to underfill it to avoid damage or mishaps.Feels to me that if it isn’t able to stand up to storing a modest mix of hand/power tools without a bin splitting, it sort of defeats the purpose of designing it to have so much space for tool storage….here’s hoping the replacement fixes everything and the first one was just defective. Will amend my review if it does. And remember, its under £30 for a reason…..so cannot expect miracles.

I just dislike the low quality “stanley” sticker attached to it. Probably not for people who expect heavy duty use as materials is mostly plastic.
Suzook12 –
For general use in a reasonably level floored workshop, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one of these. If however you need to carry a lot of heavy tools over rougher ground, not so good. A reasonably priced plastic box, and theres the crux, it is plastic. It can deform making it difficult to get the top back on. In my case, this was the shear weight of tooling deforming the case

handy toolbox for home – wouldn’t stand up to the rigours of professional use though ….. It may not be as wide as you hope for … the dimensions say 47cm wide, but this figure includes the width of the wheels on either side too, so the tool boxes themselves are more like 44cm wide at the widest point. Bit disappointing as I can’t fit things like my 12 inch tenon saw in it flat.

Had ample of space with this mobile work centre. I’ve had a smaller chest version which has surpassed it’s time and now I’ve room for all my tools on the go, all in one place as well. You’ll need to organise your tools and bits designating in the easiest compartments which I was able to do. Took me about an hour to complete. Have your screws and bolts in jars placed at the bottom. Larger tools were place there too. Chisels and screw drivers in the middle. A handy centre revolving compartment was good for the smaller things. I had trouble when closing the first middle compartment after loading what was at the bottom. Be careful as you have to align the centre in order to close and latch the whole work centre. I had to add leverage to align the middle to the bottom unit. I think the hard plastic could be stronger and thicker for design and practicability. Felt quite heavy after all my tools were inserted but it’s like pulling a trolley with shopping! Besides that, it serves it’s purpose. Thats why its a 4 star!

Ok for a DIY’er. Not that strong and robust. You wouldn’t want to be putting too many toolsIn it, I think it would crack or break with a lot of weight in it.Serves a purpose though.

Whilst obviously not suitable for a professional contractor’s use and not designed for heavy, every day hauling around on building sites it is perfectly adequate for serious DIY users and home-makers.The bottom part is roomy and mine easily contains two drills, jig saw, electric screw-driver and bits. The top part detaches and holds all the hand tools I am likely to need. The middle ‘swivel’ section is OK to hold some screws of varying size but I find I is better to have a separate box because I can guarantee I’ll have all the screws except the size I actually want. The only drawback is that it is so roomy it gets VERY heavy. That’s where the wheels come in but the top part has its own handle so if I don’t need any electrical tool i just unclip the top and carry that and leave the bottom part behind. Of course, if the whole thing is needed the wheels are strong enough and are up[ to the job.

This toolbox came with a front lock missing. The lock wasn’t in the packaging which means it was packed with the lock missing. I won’t be buying anything made by Stanley if this is an example of there quality processes. Also I had to pay £11.45 to return this faulty item and I will only get £4.50 back ? what a way to run a business. Way to go Amazon .

A lot bigger than I expected. The toolbox is big with a good sized interior and a top shelf long enough to hold extended screw drivers. As a bonus feature, there is a ‘secret’ swing out section at the bottom of the toolbox for storing screws, nails, fuses, etc. This is in addition to the large two compartments on the top of the toolbox. The toolbox has it’s own handle and there is an additional larger handle that can be used to wheel the whole unit. The toolbox clips onto a large lower storage section which is on wheels and can be pulled, or pushed. The lower section is basically a large open topped storage container, noting fancy. Some reviews mention about the flimsiness of this product. The toolbox is very sturdy, as is the combined unit, the lower section may be more flexible but it is more than adequate to serve its purpose of a large storage unit. When the top toolbox is clipped in, the whole item is solid but easily wheeled about.I have my hand tools and bits in the toolbox and use the lower section for power tools. People have been asking me where I got this as it’s quite a unique tool storage product and an excellent option for anyone needing to keep a small group of tools handy and mobile.

First of all I need to highlight that the overall rate of the product is affected by the fact that it arrived damaged and is to be returned. The bottom storage box was badly cracked on both sides around hinges. You can tell that the plastic is not very thick and durable, but probably I wouldn’t say that if it wasn’t damaged on the arrival. In terms of storage, functionality it’s probably best what you can have for the price. On this one I really regret I chose Amazon – delivery was delayed by two weeks although I have prime account – it;s available in Screwfix for the same price – you just need to go and collect. Not really worth using Amazon on this one – their delivery quality – items arriving late and often damaged – has gone down massively over the last couple of months

I used the trolley for taking art and craft materials into schools. It was adequate storage and was easy to keep clean. I liked the different compartments and thought the clasps were very strong. However, I found the large static wheels and handle made manoeuvrability awkward to pull along from the side and up steps. The handle eventually became brittle and broke off.I found it too heavy, when full, to put in the back of my car so had to use the passenger foot well instead.I have decided to replace this item with a different model.

I’m astounded, after reading some of the very negative comments on here,at just how good this toolbox actually is.It was relatively cheap, seems solid and substantial enough for normal everyday use if you’re a DIYer or hobbyist, and unless you are a professional builder then it’s all the box you’ll ever need. I suspect Stanley may have been looking at some of the criticisms, and have ‘beefed it up’ a bit. I saw people saying that they had to shuffle around like neanderthals with vent knees while trying to wheel it. Well,I’m 6’5″ tall and this DOESNT require me to do that, not does it trail it’s backside along the ground if you overfill it.All in all,it is what it is,a decent,well-made substantial and spacious toolbox at a reasonable price which will do everything that you could expect from an item at this price. Don’t expect Aston Martin performance for Mini money.

I have used this tool box for a few weeks now and find it does the job ok for the price. I use it to transport leads and mics for my business. It could be a lot better with a few upgrades even if it were to cost a bit more. The overall shape and design is fine, however the lower part could do with stronger and thicker sides, as I find if you put anything in which creates a little pressure against them, the top is reluctant to sit on it properly. The catches and locks could be made out of a heavy plastic or stronger steel, as the metal tends to bend quite easily, and does not give a firm enough hold when locked. The handle is a little short for pulling it along as it tends to clip my heels, and I’m not a very tall person. Also the wheels could do with being flat and have a smoother surface, as it makes an unnecessary noise when pulled.Apart from all that, it’s a good size and shape for transporting in the car.I have replaced this tool box for another Stanley box which is still in good condition it was a plastic silver finished with a curved lid, which I have had for years without any problems, the reason for change was the shape and colour of this one, which unfortunately is not as strong.

After reading the reviews on this I really wasn’t sure whether to go for it but I always think you have to try yourself. I’m glad I did because my opinion is completely opposite of the recent reviews. This is fab! We are renovating our house and there is so many tools all over, drills, sanders, drill bits, screw drivers, you name it we are like a DIY shop but now it is all in this and we can move it around with ease. It’s nice and tidy and the plastic has neither warped nor snapped. Now I know we only just recently bought it but considering the fact we are using it all the time, including our big teenagers going in and out it is withstanding that.So to sum it up, I recommend it definitely, don’t always listen to all the reviews because I don’t know why people thought it was rubbish! It’s saving my sanity! And thankyou to the one review that actually said the people that were leaving bad reviews need to get metal versions if they are ‘business’ because it was for that reason I thought I would try!

Bit flimsy. Not many of my tools fit.

I bought this for a friend of mine who is a bit of a DIY expert and he has lots of various tools that he has to carry around with him. He says that it is great and he now can keep a lot more of his tools in one place and also a lot easier to move them around when he is doing small jobs for other members of his family. He did say that he would not buy this tool box for every day use but it is just what is needed for the DIY enthusiast. Another plus for him was that his wife has stopped nagging him for leaving his tools on the garage workbench now.

im not a big DIY buff but i had to get a collection of tools for emergencies ect. i first bought a bag which quickly became too small for the tools so i bought this. it really suits my needs it has alot of capacity. its not built for a building site or heavy use but perfect for the occasional disaster in the home and surrounding area. ive got all my big stuff and little stuff in it.

Sturdy and versatile. Great value for money

Absolutely amazing product! It is by far the cheapest mobile tool centre in the market (under £30) and my partner absolutely loved it! He can now put ALL of his “boy-toys” in one place as the box is big enough (even big enough for someone with far too many tools….no seriously, who needs 4 hammers??)Unless you are a tool collector, you will find that this box does the job just right (or you could buy two I guess) The material is sturdy and it has great closing clips to keep everything safe (you can also put a lock on it as it has an unbuilt hole for it) the wheels are big and strong and make it all very easy to move around the house without the need of lifting it. The box separates in two in case that you fancy caring only one bit of the box for smaller house works and DIY.Great buy 😉

very fragile, broke when putting it in van.

This is a great mobile storage unit. The top half is secured by sturdy clasps that keep the 2 parts together. The bottom section is undivided storage, the top section has a tray for small tools that lifts out with a carry handle to allow access beneath. There is also a handy swivel-out drawer for small items such as screws. The kit is well made with good quality fittings and even fully loaded feels robust. Joining the 2 halves can be tricky as the lip on the front of the lower section tends to distort slightly out of line with the top and needs a few wiggles to line them up. There is a folding handle on top that allows the unit to be pulled along as a trolley, and a second handle that us used to lift off the top box. It’s my second Stanley purchase and I have been pleased with both items. Recommended.

This toolbox suits my needs perfectly for storing PC tools, fans and other small components (lightweight). This toolbox would in no way suit a tradesman like builder, plumber or electrician who would be storing heavy tools/items.In the first 5 minutes I managed to bend one of the padlock loops that the clasp closes over that you would secure tightly with of course a padlock and then managed to bend it back into place with little to no force. If you are like me and will use it for light tools/items it will do it’s job perfectly but if you need it for the above stated jobs forget about this product and look elsewhere.
David Muir –
Sturdy. Looks good.Bad point. Can lock top box but it just unclips from bottom box so not much point locking it. Plenty room do my desalt circular saw,jigsaw3 drills, impact driver spare batteries and charger.

I understand the poor reviews from professionals wanting a robust toolbox, however I think that professionals know deep down that to get a ‘Trade Quality’ toolbox, you need to spend over £100 and are made of metal or strong plastic. For my wifes face painting work though it is ideal and makes an excellent wheeled case with plenty of space. The box breaks in half so makes for easy stowage in the car which is especially good as it fits in her Saab convertible which has a long but low boot. The material is hardly margarine tub quality, I would rate it better than that, probably a good description is it’s flexible black plastic that is thick enough to be robust, but flexible enough to be light and to avoid damage. You do find with stronger, less flexible plastics, they appear tougher, but are more prone to cracking and breakage. Anyway, for the hobbyist, DIYer and car maintainence it is ideal.

This item looked at first good and indeed it has plenty of room for tools and it’s easy to manoeuvre. However it does seem a bit flimsy and the compartments don’t seem to fit together that well. The biggest issue I have with it is it’s very top heavy and has a bad habit of tipping over backwards at the slightest of touches.

this item was purchased as a fishing tackle box , i don’t go as often as i would like but this item will make my days fishing much easier to ‘lug’ all my gear around and hopefully will make an adequate seat too . loads of spaces inside the box for reels , bait etc. sturdy and seems to be well made . excellent product , and if i don’t catch any fish i can always get rid of my fishing gear and use the box for what it was probably intended ., my tools . thank.you
Jenna Ellison –
This was bought for my partner and his tools. Lots of different compartments to put everything in. I like the drawer that spins out for smaller items such as your nails/nuts/ screws etc . He has been using the top half of the box on its own when he doesn’t need the big tools. The bottom compartment has fitted in two drill boxes, a soldering iron, a couple of boxes with nails and screws so it is fairly large.A word of warning…totally by accident the tool box was left out in the rain and this box is far from showerproof and the tool box was flooded

For a Stanley product I feel this is a bit below par but I suppose for the price I got what I paid for clips look a bit flimsy and will be surprised if they lasted for very long

I got this to tidy up the scattered collection of tools I had lying around the house on shelves and in cupboards. It did that admirably. It has plenty of space in both sections (it splits in the middle, and has a useful lift out tray on the top). I have seen critical reviews about its sturdiness for a professional workman. My own view is that it is aimed at the home DIY market where it is perfectly robust for that use. The workman who is tossing tool boxes into the back of a transit van everyday should use metal to take the pounding. Otherwise it’s fine.
