This is great value for money. We paid only £70. Heats well and looks good. Only issue is that the wind can blow out the flame if it’s not kept quite sheltered. Regardless would recommend.

After reading the reviews I took the plunge and purchased this patio heater. I wanted this heater for my marquee, to warm up the marquee. I was apprehensive that this patio heater would not heat the marquee well, but my brother inlaw Manj said it will, as he had complete faith. He was right, the heater heated the marquee so well that we had to reduce heat. Remember late January 2023 the weather was very cold. This was a huge hit with my guests, so much so that a number of them purchased the same heater. You cannot go wrong with this product, its brilliant. I used a 11kg gas bottle and had no problems in fitting it in. The 11kg bottle was used for 6 hours straight. The assemble was straight forward no issues there. Generally best purchase I made and no regrets. The pictures do not do this product justice. The patio heater is huge. Make sure you also purchase a cover from Amazon. 89 cm diameter top should do the trick.

Overall impression is that for the money this is a great heater. It says it’s commercial grade but I would say it was domestic +. The heat output has a good range even on the low setting.Assembly is straight forward but the blue plastic stuff they have on the stainless steel components is a faff to get off.The instructions clearly state that the maximum gas bottle size is 15kg. From Calor the 15kg is exactly the same dimensions as the 13kg. We went for the 13kg Calor Patio Gas as it’s a pretty standard size and we have local suppliers. Here’s the down side. The bolts that hold the steel column get in the way of the gas bottle handle. The instructions indicate that you install the bolt from the top and nut from the bottom the extra thread further impedes the bottle handle. We swapped the bolts over so that the nut and therefore extra thread is on the top. This helped slightly. The key design flaw is that the three uprights (the black arms around the glass bottle in the photos) are secured to the base with a bolt through the bracket and into a captive nut in the base plate. The 13kg standard patio gas bottle has to actually sit on these three bolts and there is no other way of getting the bottle in and sat centrally. Because they sit on these bolts this raises the bottle height by 5 to 7mm causing the handle at the top to be impeded (see photos). This means it’s a very very tight fit (seriously watch your fingers!) you can’t easily access the regulator and the on/off valve. You are advised to switch the valve off when not in use. There is no way of taking off the regulator when the bottle is installed. To fit the regulator you have to have the gas bottle propped half way in to the housing. They are quite unwieldy. You can apparently get an 11kg patio bottle but there are no suppliers of this type near me. I think they are FloGas.All in all a decent product for the money but you will certainly struggle if you want to fit a 13kg gas bottle.

This gives out great Heat. It took a while to assemble but once assembled it looks great. Easy to switch on and off, but gas can get used up quickly, if used a lot. I love the wicker style, it looks so organic.
W. Watt –
Easy to put together. Gas bottle doesn’t fit exactly but close enough with no effort and once the housing is on who cares! Looks more stylish in real life than the pictures show. Great heat output. Overall very impressed

My parcel arrived and we set about the task of assembling it, expecting this to be more of an arduous job than it actually turned out to be, I would advise open all packages and lay them out check all the parts you should have are there, the spanner/wrench that comes with it is a little flimsy so if you have a more sturdy one to had id use this along with a Philips screwdriver. The instructions are clear and simple if you follow them, don’t try jumping ahead thinking you know what you’re doing as you will end up having to back step (as we learned) one thing to note is all of the reflector panels for the top part are wrapped in a blue plastic cover that needs to be removed before use, this is very difficult and takes some time to do, so I would advise as soon as your package arrives find these and unwrap, also try to do so inside we noticed the warmer the climate the easier they came off .Now to move onto the issue with the gas bottles not fitting, I read the reviews and this did put me off slightly but was nothing to worry about, our gas bottle that first our BBQ fits our heater perfectly slides in and out with ease (pics attached). Heat wise it’s amazing the first use gives of some smoke for about 10 seconds this quickly passes, the heat from this is amazing warms up very fast lights first time and uses hardly any gas, this has got to be one of the best things we have bought for the garden.
Mr M Dawson –
Great looking product and worthwhile purchase. Only downside is it takes forever to peel the protective covering off the top reflection panels.
chris jones –
When you first put it on its great plenty of heat coming out of it but after a while it like there’s a safe thing in it and you only get a little heat out of it no good at night when it is cold

I purchased this heater as a way to support my daughter still being able to see her small group of friends as we were no longer able to have people in the house.we’ve only used it a couple of times but it’s so far done the job. The biggest worry after getting it was the availability of the actual gas! There seems to be a national shortage of this size of canister and companies were only doing a swap and not letting you buy the canister.Luckily though we found one!It did get damaged in a storm even though I moved it to a sheltered corner – it didn’t blow over but the halo was compromised by a constant battering and eventually came off. We’ve not had a proper look at the fix but I’m sure we’ll be able to get it sorted. It’s not ideal when it’s a bit too windy but on still evenings (and maybe during the day during the winter) it’s so far been ideal.I don’t know how long a canister of gas will last as it’s not run out yet after using it three times and on all occasions it was for several hours. It’s sturdy and looks good.We found that a 13kg canister fits perfectly.

Bought this heater for my sons garden it is very well made and I think excellent value for money. He used the gas bottle that he uses for his BBQ, it gave out a lot of heat in fact he turned it down as it was so warm.It was a bit tricky to put together once there was two doing it then it became easier.
Neil Douglas –
This is a fantastic heater, it chucks out loads of heat and is sturdy and good looking; that plus it is cheaper by far than the nearest competitor with a similar heat output and what more could you want?Well, the one thing I’d want and the only reason I didn’t give this 5 star is it is a real fiddle to get a Calor Green 13Kg cylinder in. To be fair the instructions say it only takes a smaller size, but it is so close it is frustrating; 2cm more height on the legs and it would have been a breeze. If you want to fit a 13Kg in then I’ve found you have to remove two bolts, put the cylinder in, then replace the bolts. Not by any means a deal breaker, but with a full cylinder you do have to take care not to trap your fingers …

Need more weight at the base as mine blew over and damaged the mushroom head

This is a great product. Watch the price as it fluctuates wildly from the £60s to £130s. There is a lot of rubbish in the reviews here that had been worrying me before I set it up so writing this for benefit of others.1. Per the manual you *can* fit a Calor 15kg butane bottle in this. It is tight but you don’t need to loosen screws or anything like that. 15 is heavy but makes the most sense economically and reduced refill trips.2. It comes with a propane regulator so if you want butane you will need to buy one. The petrol station sold me one for £15 but I’m sure you could get one cheaper online.3. Use butane not propane (“patio gas” is 100% propane but more expensive). Butane gives out 40% or so more heat when burnt than propane so price wise it is a far better deal and will last a lot longer. No idea why you would use propane in this.4. Peeling the blue plastic protector off of the reflector pieces takes about 5 min and is nowhere near as bad as some others say. It helps if the metal parts are colder before you do it.

There’s not a lot that you can write about a Patio Heater, so I’ll just give you the bare facts. It’s bigger than you’d expect around pub size.It gives of tremendous heat but as you’d expect it can be adjusted. The centre pipe connection on assembly can be cut down with a suitable saw and the holes for connecting the burner can be drilled. So ideally you can cut a foot off the height. It looks good and the the construction is rock solid. On assembly it will take around an hour to put together. The manual is fairly basic but is easy to follow but take care with the screws and bolts in the blister pack as they are not number but referred to as large bolt or small screw Etc.On a final note it states that you should use a 9 kg lpg (Propane) cylinder. Good luck with that in the UK as they are rarer than hens teeth. The largest cylinder that will fit is a 11 kg Patio cylinder which is better value, so no problems there. On no account try the 13 kg as it is two centimetres too big in height.
Matthew kavanagh –
quality product for a fair price very good heat output
Paulu781 –
Seems fine in most respects. But as others have said, the height of the internal cavity won’t fit a standard UK larger gas bottle – think it’s 13kg but not sure, whereas my previous patio heater had absolutely no problems with this. To be fair, it’s in there now, but only by doing things like turning bolts round, and retrofitting a shallower gas fitting from the old patio heater (it was shorter by about 1mm, which shows hot tight it is). And even with that I’m not sure it’s safe, as there is some pressure on top of the fitting which could potentially lead to leaks. For shorter gas bottles, which I don’t have, I’m sure it’s fine.

It’s really good but very very tricky to insert the patio gas heater as there’s no almost no space when you have a 13kg gas cylinder.Quick tip when inserting the gas cylinder – Don’t fully tighten the bolts at the base unit that keep the 3 rods up that surround the gas cylinder. Well don’t fully tighten the two on either side. I kept the one in the center tighted at the base but left the other two a bit loose. Then Tighten the top 5 bolts leaving one a little lose because it pretty much won’t fit. (it will make sense when you’re doing it. Otherwise just get a smaller cylinder as the 13kg is boredline too big although it will work….just. Also the regulator (gas switch that connects to the gas cylinder). It clips on easy but to remove it there is a plastic button underneath the regulator switch where if you press it down hard enough it will click and then you can easily remove the regulator. It took me ages to figure that out after i hunted youtube. So other than those nuances it’s really good works a treat and i do recommend it!

Got this the 1st week in April where the price was lower than now so a bargain in my eyes atm. The assembly of the heater was very easy to do even by myself just take your time and plan it out. Regarding the gas bottle size issue where some people have had trouble fitting the bottle I went to the gas bottle size chart on google for a size for the 13kg propane and the 13kg green patio gas bottle and both are the same size. The heater came with a push on gas regulator for the green patio gas type bottle so I got that type of bottle from the Calour gas site which only took just over 2hrs from placing the order for the bottle to delivery so was fantastic .Anyway back to the getting the bottle fitted..all I did was put the bottle on the base and bolted the 3 side bars into postion and fitted like that and was no proplem getting the bottle in and out again .Remember when fitting the avenger shield as I called it 🙂 as it looks just like it to the top of the heater do it outside as might be a problem getting it through a doorway as it is wide. Ive only had it working for just under 2 hrs on full and when I checked the gas bottle fill gauge it hadn’t moved at all . Everybody loved it when it was on and I will buy another

This is a good value product having paid only £84.95 for it. However there are a couple of minor problems with it. Firstly if you use a 13KG Calor patio gas tank you can’t put the tank easily inside the unit as the nuts and bolts that make up the frame get in the way.The frame could do with being 5mm higher. You can get the gas into the unit but only at an angle and that makes dropping the outer casing over it very tight. Other makes of gas canister may fit better but the Calor one doesn’t. Secondly on a breezy day the heat from the burner is reduced because the wind blows straight through. On my previous model there was an inner cone to the burner which stopped the wind from being blown through. This made it more effective on breezy days. Heat output on still days is excellent.Overall a very good product for the money and I would purchase again, but shame that someone didn’t check that the 13KG UK gas canister would fit inside more easily

Perfect for the patio.Great heat output and the gas mechanism functions well and is easy to use. The wheels make it easy to maneuver around the garden.Great price for the heat output
Grant McWilliam –
I bought the size of bottle that is supposed to fit, but sadly it doesn’t.The bottle alone would fit but once the regulator is installed it doesn’t.Very poor and now I’m stuck with a gas bottle costing almost £100 sitting next to the heater. Nightmare
Stan –
The heater came well packed and was easy to put together if somewhat time consuming. The biggest issue for most is liable to be the size of the gas bottle. The heater comes with a propane gas regulator which will only fit in my case the green bottles. I can just about get a green metal 13kg propane bottle in but it is a squeeze. The best size would be the 10kg patio gas bottles. Otherwise it looks very good and although only tested briefly threw out plenty of heat.

Quality appears to be good and gives off good heat to a wide area. Couple of points though: It is described as bronze but is more like black with some bronze speckles on it – you have to go up close to it to see that it is bronze. Not a major problem for me. Secondly is that if you decide to use Calor gas bottles, please note that the 13kg cylinder comes in two slightly different designs, despite looking identical. One has a slightly shorter brass neck (the brass bit that comes out of the gas bottle to which you attach the heater’s regulator) and that is the one you want for this patio heater. The one with the slightly longer brass neck will NOT fit inside this patio heater (is about 2mm too tall with the regulator attached). My Calor supplier was unaware there was a difference so make sure you hand pick the right bottle to fit this heater!

Great buy and was cheaper than renting for a week. Gas easy to install and easy to set up!
David –
Seemed more flimsy than I expected. But relatively easy to build. Only needed assistance for the top part. Was of course under direct wife supervision throughout! Instructions interesting but decipherable. All bits present. Lighting, yes you do need to read the instruction and clear the air from the line. Takes longer than you expect. But it did ignite eventually, again read the instructions my eyebrows are nealy grown back now! and the heat was appreciable. The gas cable was long enough to reach a small propane cylinder so try before purchasing bricks as I did.The cover seems of excellent quality and I would consider essential. It has survived very strong winds, lashed to the side of the house.
pwp treanor –
After reading many of the previous reviews I was somewhat sceptical in my expectations BUT I decided I would find out for myself. The blue plastic protective wrapping came off no problem the instructions were clear and very easy to follow and all up and finished just over the hour.I took my 13kg patio gas bottle from my bbq and popped the regulator on from the heater and it went in no problem unlike many of the reviews I had read so beware of what I can only describe as false reviews with ulterior motives to discredit the item for reasons unknown.
Usman –
It’s very fiddly to assemble. And the issues with the 13 kg Calor patio gas bottle are present as many have said. Basically the support rods at the base don’t allow the bottle to fit. The rods have two pairs of bolts on the top. If you remove the inner of the two bolts the bottle just about fits. It’s not an ideal solution but it beats getting a smaller bottle. The heater is great once you get it all assembled though.
Amanda Peters –
A bit confused with other reviews as we easily slid a 13kg bottle in.Was fairly straightforward to assemble, although the top section was pretty heavy to support when adding!I agree with all the comments on the blue protective film, that took longer to remove than the complete assembly.Really happy with the look, think it is too tall. Due to the fabulous weather have not tried it yet but will update
Michael –
Due to covid we decided to buy a patio heater in order to enable us to sit outside with friends and minimise any risks. Heater was straightforward to build and taller than I expected! I find that it is very sturdy and provides good heat, once out of any wind.Overall very good value, good quality and easy to build. Am very happy with it.
M harris –
Great patio heater, really nice heat output but like other buyers have mentioned this isn’t set up to take a 13kg has bottle but fear not you can very easily adapt the heater to take it with a couple of extra bolts, I’ve attached some pictures to show what I’ve done for anyone that wants to do this. But really amazon you just needed to make the bottle space 15mm bigger! This is the only reason I can’t give it a 5 star. But if you can get it cheap enough then go for it!!

Update Apr-2020:DO NOT BUY! After 2 1/2 years the regulator is damaged and it doesn’t light anymore at all – not to mention all the rust all around, although I have it in winter in the shed. Before this I had one which lasted over 10 years with no rust at all … very poor – very disappointed and annoyed that I spend the money—–Old review from beginning:Value-for-money, but needed to buy different regulator for 11kg butan bottles in Ireland:Overall, I surely can recommend it as it is a solid product for that price. However, for my 11 kg yellow butan Calor gas bottle here in the Republic of Ireland, I needed another regulator which added about 16 € to the overall price. It’s advisable as well to have a small bag of sand to be filled into the stand. You could use water, but I believe water could start smelling in there at some stage. The good:- nice looking and stylish- solid enough- assemply description ok- nuts & bolts nicely sorted and labeled- assemply easy enough- bottom stand can be filled with water or sand for better stand- wheels for moving- has a quite big metal roof to keep the heat more focused- after assembly, heater worked on first clickThe not so good:- comes with a propane regulator – needed to buy a new butane regulator for my collection of 11kg bottles (16 € in B&Q)- Yellow 11kg Calor bottle (Ireland) just fit in – on bottom you need to put it on the screws – not great – see picture- Assembly can be done on your own, but you need a good hour if reading the instructions bit by bitI’m happy enough 🙂
Mrs Sharon Griffin –
Like other reviewers I would say easy to build, if you can read and follow instructions. You will need sand or water for the base weight, I used stain free play pit. You will also need some small flat washers for the four screws which secure the burner, otherwise the lock washers squeeze into the hole and make tightening and aligning difficult. It does take longer to peal off the blue aluminium protective layer than to build the entire heater! Took the top tip on Homebase (Flo Gas) £88 for 10kg bottle, fits a treat.
Natalie Taylor –
Quick and easy to assemble, looks good, heat is excellent. The 13kg green gas bottle wouldn’t fit no matter how we tried. We have put a 5kg in there for the time being. I think probably 9kg is a nicer fit and will save you the hassle we had with going back and forth the supplier.
Billy Nic –
Just tried it 4 the first time .hot enough to make toast, but not advisable. Good quality I’m really buzzed..I got mine for £69 on offer here on Amazon
Mary –
It comes in parts which you have to assemble but The instructions were very clear and we had difficulty assembling it. Some people say it’s difficult to remove the protective film from one component but we found it easy. A ladder is required for the final fixing of the top. I also bought a rainproof cover and this is the most tedious job requiring ladders to take it off and to put it on. it’s a super looking piece of garden equipment and I’m delighted with it.
Aaron –
Good value, very sturdy and seems to be working good up until now. See what the future holds, but at the minute very impressed.
M. Huff –
This turned out to be great value for money…it was under £80 the day I bought it. It is big but I was expecting that. It gives out heat to a wide area but not as wide as some reviews have mentioned. It was really easy to assemble although getting the protective foil of the top heat shield blades took some time. I haven’t bought a cover for it yet and it’s been out in all the recent August torrential rain and winds, it still looks good as new and it hasn’t blown over. Very pleased with it and enabled us to stay outside much later into the evening than without it (when it hasn’t been raining of course!)
William Griffiths –
Extremely tight to fit gas cylinder . The frame base should have countersunk bolts
Christopher de Vere Walker –
For reasons beyond me, it doesn’t fit standard 13kg propane bottles.
Rachael –
**UPDATE**The 4 screws shown in the list at the start of the booklet are already part of the base. Maybe a note can be slipped into booklets to explain this just so others don’t also panic and think they’re missing some of the parts.I’ve now assembled my heater and it’s brilliant.****My pack is missing the necessary 4 large screws and 4 large nuts. How do I get these sent out ASAP please?
Christine –
Was expecting to be dissatisfied but amazing patio heater and a bargain very impressive from start to finish and recommend u invest ins a decent cover to protect it for longer

I love this patio heater from the first time I assembled it and still do. The only gripe is fitting the gas bottle at the bottom of the heater #sorethump.

Absolutely happy with the product. I had problems with the delivery and this spend several weeks to arrive, but the product is just amazing.
Byron –
It was a very good bargain, as the patio heater is very well made and cheap, I’m very pleased with it
Clare McDermott –
Easy to assemble and heat great but after two times if using, we had it on for about 3 hours and then it went out and although it relit on pilot it wouldn’t light fully when you tried to turn it on to full. Tried again the next day and it worked ok so wasn’t the gas. Maybe it overheats ?
James A. Hicken –
When I opened the box, my heart sank, but with a bit of study and couple of cups of coffee, I was able to make good – if slow- progress. My wife was hugely impressed with it when it was finished (after about an hour and a half) – and it worked first time! It is a brilliant piece of kit. Note: the large green gas cylinder DOES just about go inside the base housing although it’s very tight fit. Top value. VERY effective. BUT – be sure to also buy a cover so you can leave it outdoors!

Not sure why people say the 13kg bottle won’t fit our green calor gad bottle fits perfectly and really pleased with the product

Because of the warmth it extended our evening with our family

Arrived today. Blue protective plastic on the top of the heat shields seems glued on and requires a hairdryer to soften the plastic to enable it to be removed. It took longer to remove tge plastic than to assemble the unit. Rubber around one of the handles on the gas cover was off and mis-shaped, again heat needed to be used to manipulate it back into shape. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but not overly impressed so far.

Much sturdier than expected. Very pleased with purchase. Also bought the cover which is also excellent
