Bought this for be place under an outside dinning table for that littleExtra warmth at night. It’s just the right out put so as to prevent burning and heat radiates outward at just the correct distance and wattage. Highly recommend for this purpose other then that additional heaters would be required.
Everyman –
This provides soft, sun-like warmth if you sit two to three feet from it. We have used two in the pandemic at those times when it has been permitted to meet in the garden, one for us and one for a visiting couple. Quite pleasant heat. Ideal for use on patio/decking especially if it can be safely located a couple of feet above the ground as you sit near it. We, and our visitors, are very happy with it.It is easily transportable and is upright so has quite a small footprint for storage – about a square foot should be sufficientIts only drawback is the 1.8 metre cable. You will almost certainly need to use in conjunction with an extension lead.
Kevin Bailey –
No problems with the heater. Very easy to assemble but I just wish it threw out a lot more heat but it will do
Sunbeam0875 –
We purchased this to warm our veranda seating area.We were pleasantly surprised with the heat output, not over powering, just right for background heat. The stand looks good too.
PlasmaRules –
This heater feels reassuringly solid and stable with considerable heft. However functionality-wise it is unbelievably basic. It has an on/off switch and that’s it. So difficult to get excited about. The heat output is mediocre. It does however radiate in 360 degrees, rather than being focused in a particular direction. Some may find that an advantage.

Nice an easy to set up, doesn’t look to bad. Had this about a month and used it 3 times. We have it actually inside a 9×9 Gazebo on top of a coffee table and we have the sides of the gazebo closed – The first few times the temperature was “chilly outside” not exactly sure, around 15 degrees C, it was good enough to sit in the Gazebo for several hours easily, but today temperature is around 10 degrees C and its juts not putting out enough heat.
LilyDame –
Warm and cosy looking, but you need it quite close to feel the heat. I love the portability of it, it has a carry handle at the top and is lightweight. I needed two, one each side, to really feel the warmth though.
Kerry Cross –
Good solid product. Didn’t give out a huge amount of heat but definitely takes the chill off sufficiently

Small but neat little fire. Tried it out middle of April not as warm as I thought it would be but possibly to cold an evening. Will try again summer time
Marydoll –
Heat output could be better. That said we’re in Scotland and it gets very cold.
Amazon Customer –
Brilliant
Maggie mc –
Not as warm as expected but ok
HP –
This is so easy to move and store, perfect for my balcony. It doesn’t give out a massive amount of heat but enough to keep the chill away in Scotland. Very unobtrusive and neat and is an excellent buy considering how little it cost.
Dr G J C George –
This is a stylish and stable patio heater. On account of climate change, I’m not generally a fan of outdoor heating, but I’ve made an exception because of Covid-19. We can now continue to see friends out of doors and socially distanced as the weather gets colder. I’m very pleased with this purchase.
Christine –
Good heater for taking the chill off when sitting outside. We put ours under the patio table so that everyone’s knees were warm. Used during the lockdown in my gazebo when we could only meet outside.
Amazon Customer –
Good little heater but would have liked a longer cable
Anita Smith –
Most outdoor heaters throw heat down when actually what you need to keep warm is you feet and legs. The warmth stays more local because the air movement is less and under the table or to sit round enjoying food is brilliant.
ES –
Good inside – not so warm for outside
Jen –
A nice looking good quality heater, not too heavy, perfect for sitting out as the evening gets cooler. We have two garden chairs and a table in between – we put it on the table between us and it keeps us perfectly warm.
Heather –
Bought Swan Al Fresco Patio Heater and very pleased with it. Easy instructions to assemble, did it on my own. Impressed with how quickly and warm the heater is. Pleased with purchase.
M. S. –
we used it last night on a rather cold night and it was adequate beneath the table keeping our legs warm
Emma Paxton –
Took the chill off as the sun went down and allowed us to socialise in the garden until 10pm in March!
corri –
It gives an all round heat so you don’t need to be directly in front of the unit to benefit from the output
Paul Carroll –
I read a couple of reviews that said heat wasn’t great and was too late to cancel so gave this a try but the heat is very poor for the money it costs
Mr. S. Hudson –
A good value heater. Really useful on these cold days and evenings. Lightweight but gives off plenty of heat.
CJ –
This patio heater gives out very little heat. Even with bare skin you need to be within about 20cm to feel ANY warmth at all. If you’re wearing long trousers, for example, then you need to be almost in physical contact with it to feel the warmth. In other words, if you’re expecting this to keep you and your friends warm on a patio as the sun goes down, prepare to be massively disappointed.I’m returning this product as it’s utterly useless.
Paul –
Quite simply it’s excellent.
Leicester customer –
I was expecting it to produce more warmth than it does. I probably needed a larger heater.
S –
Neat ,warm,and easily moveable
Seb –
The heater itself is solid but it just doesn’t give out much heat. The listing is inconsistent in labelling its wattage (1200, 1600, 1800) so which is it? My guess is 1200 which just isn’t enough unless you are right up close to the heater – I have to have it between my legs to warm my feet!

Mick Austen –
Instant source of heat with mobility to move around. Great looking with no cleaning.
Amazon Customer –
I would be amazed if this ‘heater’ is anything more than 1000w output. The product looks great but there is very little heat coming from it. And given the fact that the headline on the product states 1600w then the packaging stated 100-1200 there is something wrong. Maybe the heat gets to one foot from it but no more than that, highly disappointed.
Danni –
Amazing!
Sam –
I’m very pleased with it, keeps you nice and warm, highly recommend
Melissa Rowntree –
Don’t feel like it heats up the area well. Doesn’t kick out enough heat even sat in the middle of the table with everyone sat around
KS –
We tried it out on a relatively mild day and were very disappointed at the weak output. Definitely wouldn’t be effective on a cold winter’s day
Vicki Rees –
Generates heat very quickly.
Mr Mark Coppen –
Sent it back, couldn’t feel the heat inside less than a foot away!!
Amazon Customer –
Misleading description in terms of heat output. There is mention of it being 1800watts.it is not. Very weak output.
Kw –
This product was delivered with parts missing.
THaggerty –
Perfect for our get together in the garden, we bought 2, 1 for each end of our table and it was just right to take the chill off. Easy to move and put together!
H. Ashford –
When something is described as portable you expect to be able to pick it up, move it to wherever you want it, and use it. That isn’t quite the case with this heater, as it runs on mains electricity. I think it is rather dishonest of them that every picture has the mains cable carefully concealed to make it look as if the heater is more portable and convenient than it really is.Moreover, the 1.8m power cable supplied hardly warrants the description “generous”; you will need to get your extension lead pretty close to the heater.Having said that, it is well built, has a nice stable base making it unlikely to tip over, it looks good and it provides a nice amount of heat. A real boon for a summer evening, extending the length of time that you can enjoy your garden or balcony. It is waterproof and can be used in all weathers, and presumably left out when not in use – though it would have been nice if it had come with a cover to protect it from rain and dirt when not in use.
Ambienthighway –
The Heater arrives in a nicely protected box. There is some assembly with the base plate and wire connection lead. You will need two people to complete this satisfactorily. Assembly is easy, bulky but not heavy. The instructions are detailed on how this works and first assembled. The lead from the hater is likely to require to be plugged into a extension lead, standard type connection is OK. The heater gives of a nice amount of heat and given the right circumstances this will give you a longer opportunity to stay out in the open with this heater. We are very pleased with the overall design and quality. Its easily moved around if needed and provided this is on a level platform it is very stable. Very useful heater to have in the garden.
Clever Spud –
I really hoped we wouldn’t be getting as much use out of this in mid-August as we actually are, but the combination of cooler weather and rain has made it a bit of a blessing.Once you unpack it you have to attach the base but this is a simple enough job, and more so if you have an extra pair of hands on call. The base makes it pretty stable, so it shouldn’t blow over in anything but a hurricane. It gives off a lot of heat.Couple of things to mention. The cable is about six feet long, which may suit you if you’re got an outdoor plug at your patio area, but you’re more likely to need an extension lead. Which brings me to the second point – this is apparently IP44 approved, but what IS IP44? It’s actually typically a bathroom lighting rating for lights you’d have in a bathroom but not actually in a wet area like right in a shower enclosure. In layman’s terms it means the item is splashproof, but you shouldn’t immerse it in water. We’ve had it on during light rain/light wind (while using an outdoors extension lead with waterproof covers over the sockets (good old IP54 rating!) and I felt pretty confident about it. Don’t use a standard extension lead and get upset if you trip a fuse because it’ll be the extension lead at fault rather than the heater. That said, heavier rain would still tend to make me bring it in – though why we’d be standing in the rain in our back garden like a bunch of hippies is a question for another day.Nice product!
ArtichokesForAll –
We are really pleased with this patio heater, which after a couple of evenings’ use is already proving itself to be very useful. The heater itself is well-made and quite heavy; this, combined with the fairly wide circular base means that it’s not liable to be easily knocked over (unlike our previous heater, which would fall over at the drop of a hat). It gives out a good amount of heat; it also looks quite attractive with its burnished metal finish. A good heater and one that will get a lot of use.
S. Porter –
This is quite a bulky piece of equipment, it’s well finished although utilitarian in style. The heating element produces a great deal of heat and is easy to power up with the simple switch control. It’ll do the job although the all-weather assurances are still to be tested.
Bela Lugosi’s Dad –
For those late summer nights on the patio, when wine has been drunk and conversation turns nonsensical. Generous power cord, good heat output, good size to tuck away indoors when not in use. The local cat population love it.

Living in the Scottish Highlands we need a little help to sit out on summer evenings. This Swan heater is just the business!Easy to set up – thread the plug and flex through the upper base plate and screw a small plate in to secure the flex, add in the heavy base and screw in with the provided Allen key and hey presto. I suppose it is slightly annoying that the unit does not arrive with the base plate fitted but it must be easier for packaging. The heater has a handle which doesn’t heat up so it is easy to move if needed. The base plate is polished metal which looks modern. There is a comfortable amount of heat produced which was lovely as I enjoyed my first Friday glass of wine in the garden. The base is very sturdy so I’m comfortable enough that it wouldn’t be easily knocked over. The cable could be a metre or two longer but we used with an extension lead to enable us to place the heater where we needed it.All in all I’m very satisfied with this heater and I hope to have many evenings this summer sitting out a bit longer than previously thanks to this great heater.
